‘This is the London plan’: Imran Khan ‘explains’ Pakistan police and his supporters clash | World news

After violent clashes between Pakistani police and Imran Khan supporters outside the former prime minister’s home in Lahore, which left several injured on both sides, Imran Khan said: “The way we were targeted by the police is a first. There is no reason why they took this step. My bail was on the 18th. They knew why I didn’t attend the bail…because of security.”

“They are preparing again, I know. I have pledged to the Lahore High Court that I will appear in court on the 18th. But it was not accepted,” Imran Khan said ahead of his possible arrest.

“Why wasn’t it taken? Because London is part of the plan. Nawaz Sharif has been given assurances that I and my party will be attacked and taken down,” said Imran Khan, condemning the police for targeting the supporters with batons and tear gas grenades.

Imran Khan’s supporters gathered outside his home as a police squad from Islamabad arrived to arrest him by court order, while Imran Khan called on his supporters to stand up for the supremacy of the law and fight for true independence.

“The police have come to arrest me and send me to prison. If something happens to me, if I’m sent to prison, or if they kill me, you have to prove that this country will continue to fight even without Imran Khan,” he said in a videotaped statement after the violence.

Several supporters of Imran Khan were injured when police used tear gas, Reuters reported.

The arrest warrant was issued in a case against Imran Khan for illegally selling state gifts while in power from 2018 to 2022.
